Schrödinger's Selection

before I count the bifurcations
as history bestows it's bagatelle
and follow all the separations
the 'might have beens', and 'who-can-tell?'

which path amongst them was most likely
to better serve the status-quo
I choose and, maybe, get off lightly
a pass perhaps, I cannot know

for my vision blurs with this decision
collapsing into the chosen now
confirms one past, brooks no collision
as one path I faithfully plough
