The Forlorn Sea

I'm lost in a sea of raging waves
Somersaulting head over heels,
Returning stagnant in its enclaves
Thoughts snake around my mind like eels.

There's no way out of this stormy sea
Where the foamy white caps turn black.
Blinded by years of brutality,
I have lost the essence of me.

Stretching to break through the salty shield,
To greedily breathe in fresh air
Just as quickly as I resurface.
I fire warning shots from the flare.

Fleeing the dark shadows behind me,
Escaping the killer white sharks
And the entrapment of the banshee
I leave behind this forlorn sea.
