So, I have this rule: No watching Halloween shows Before October.
Buffy doesn’t break that rule, so let the Slaying commence.
It’s ridiculous.
Teen saves world, teen dates bad boys, Lather, rinse, repeat.
But I’m still sucked in.
(Sucked In? That pun needed a warning; So did Joss Whedon.)
The show’s not scary.
It’s got B-Movie monsters, Floor routine fight scenes, Silly monsters of the week, Vampires that look part Klingon, and teen angst to spare.
Yeah, Buffy is flawed.
But it also delivers groundbreaking portraits of loss, acceptance, trauma, AND a MUSICAL.
Why do I watch it?
Its brain candy, I suppose.
Not for every day, but, good if you feel spooky and it’s not quite October.
