A poem inspired by a Taylor Swift song. |
Am I the ugly giant in the cave? When I come into town for a visit Stomping into your house Is there a place for me to sit? Or do you instead feel great alarm? You know I do not mean to cause you harm. I know I do not fit. And to show me kindness, one must be very brave. Am I the dwarf that no one ever likes? I cannot even work that well with gold. No one wants my treasure And I am not even that old. Whenever someone looks upon my face They laugh because it is so gross and base I guess I can be bold But it is a boldness that everyone dislikes. Perhaps I am a hero none can see. Invisible I set upon a quest. Not sure what to look for, But I intend to do my best Perhaps I will find something truly great. Perhaps I will find something more to hate. But seeking east or west. The world will be happier if it can't see me. 24 lines Note: This poem was to be inspired by the Taylor Swift song "Anti-hero" I chose to write it as three "Mistress Bradstreet" Stanzas. I don't know why they call them Mistress Bradstreet stanzas but you can find an explanation of the form here: https://www.writersdigest.com/write-better-poetry/mistress-bradstreet-stanza-poe... |
