A poem reflecting on the idea of Christmas in July.
Christmas in July

A celebration in July?
Not Christmas, surely, I reply.

But that would eerie be and strange,
even though it would make a change.

There’d be no cold and snow would melt;
chocolate too, ‘fore it swelled my belt.

What kind of tree would grace the hall,
with oak too big and bonsai small?

No heavy food like turkey roast,
just peppermint, ice cream and toast.

It’s true that presents would be boxed,
I’ll not deny I need some socks.

There’s other things that would give joy,
My mind is changed, I’ll not be coy.

Line count: 12
Rhymed couplets.
