All the colours of the rainbow whizzed past in a swirl of stars as I flew through space faster than the speed of light. Up was down and down was up and my skin felt prickly all over. My hair stood as if it were pulled up by an invisible static charge. My nostrils were filled with a warm aroma reminiscent of peanut butter on toast. I was laughing, really laughing. The sound of my laughter tasted like custard on my tongue. Like a balloon fit to burst, my mind was crammed with purpose and meaning and secrets. For the first time in my life, I thought to myself: I have a plan; I know where I’m going. That was the day I left Earth for good and never looked back - not even once.
