A haven for birds
The icy blizzard was gone,
Leaving its frozen fingers,
On every surface it touched,
Now a magic ice castle.

The sun has peeked its warm face,
Through the swollen clouds above,
Making colorful rainbow,
Atop the crusty snowfall.

The wind still skims the surface,
Dancing with bits of snowflakes,
Circling the ground above,
Teasing the sun as it plays.

I watched from inside my home,
Seeing the lonely pine tree,
It's branches laden with snow,
And I feared that they would break.

Then, a movement caught my eye,
Curious, I peered much closer,
Then laughed as a little bird,
Shook the snow off its body.

More and more of them appeared,
Enjoying end of the storm,
Puffing their little bodies,
Looking like tree ornaments.

I realized the pine tree,
Was never lonely at all,
For an entire village,
Of birds kept it company.

So, like the little pine tree,
We surround ourselves with love,
Enjoying family and friends,
The circle of life complete.
