Christmas Poem

So, now it starts again
The month of cards arriving -
Reminders of seasons past.
Cheerful holiday scenes with
Notes from friends and family,
From those we used to know
Much better.
Now, an annual summary of
Activities and children
Who have grown and have
Their own.
An occasional litany of aches
Pains and surgeries or
Lists of travels taken.
From some, a reminiscence,
A remembrance of those whose
Cards will never again grace the
Mailbox.
