A celebration of Friendsgiving. Writer's Cramp winner.
Thanksgiving's a family tradition
three weeks into every November.
And while time with the kinfolk is special,
there are others we fondly remember.

So we're hosting a Friendsgiving dinner
the following weekend this year.
And we're looking forward eagerly
to our dearest friends joining us here.

Mark and Kelly are coming,
and bringing some pumpkin ale.
And if Robert's as wild as he used to be,
we'll be treated to many a tale.

Joe's bringing a dozen donuts
the cinnamon kind, so he said.
And Lynne's making pumpkin pie for all,
so we'll have us a festive spread.

We've invited Rob and Linda as well,
plus David and Steven and Sue.
And I'm certain we'll reminisce about
the time Linda lost her shoe.

We'd searched for half an hour,
every square inch, I swear.
But it seemed to have disappeared for good
'til the dog found it under a chair.

We'll play some traditional music.
But to really get things swinging,
hit music from the 80s is
what most of us will be singing.

I've set up a few extra beds for those
who are coming from farther away.
And I'm sure we'll have lots of leftovers
for a sandwich or three the next day.

Between my love and I we have
a sizable crowd of old friends.
So catching up on memories might be
a party that never ends.

Thanksgiving's a time-honored custom
that's been with us for many a year.
But I'm happy to add an occasion
to celebrate friends we hold dear.
