Flash Fiction -- A woman deals with a co-worked who steals ideas to get ahead.

Turn-Abouts Fair Play
By Phoenix Dragon

“Good morning, Ms. Simmons. How are you today?”
“I’m fine, Darla.”
“I know it’s my day off, but I had a thought last night about the Frazier account.”
“Yes?”
“Since Mr. Frazier is trying to enhance his team’s image, why not sponsor a lottery where the winner becomes an honorary team member for a season.”
“Excellent idea. We’ll talk tomorrow,” said Ms. Simmons walking into her office.
Tina grabbed Darla by the arm. “That was my idea. Who told you about it?”
“I don’t know what you are talking about,” Darla said with a smirk.
“Bull,” said Tina. “How did you get it?”
Ms. Simmons’ door opened and she stepprd out. “Ladies, is there a problem here?”
“No, ma’am,” said Tina. With pursed lips and clenched fists she marched to her cubicle. Before leaving that day she locked her plans for the Marshall account in her desk drawer.

Monday morning the Marshalls, Ms. Simmons and Darla entered the conference room.
“Why are you smiling?” asked Melony. “She’s stolen your ideas again.”
“U-huh. The Marshalls’ new cat food needs an appropriate packaging design. Darla has brough in some pedigree cats for them to consider. What she doesn’t know is that the Marshalls are highly allergic to cats. This should be interesting.”
Suddenly chaos broke loose in the conference room. The Marshalls rushed out and exited the agency sneezing and wheezing. Ms. Simmons ran after them talking rapidly. Lastly Darla emerged with three hissing cats.
She rounded on Tina. “You!” she said. “You did this!”
“I don’t know what you are talking about,” said Tina sweetly.
Ms. Simmons reentered the office.
“Darla,” she snarled, “that little stunt just cost us a $5,000,000 account. Get those cats out of here, then clean out your desk.”
