April's Motivation

Above the eastern mountains dark clouds spawn,
Huge water droplets strike the desert floor,
Inhale the petrichor perfume of dawn.

The hot dry winds of yesterday are gone,
Replaced by an ozone scented vapour:
Above the eastern mountains dark clouds spawn.

The sun tints the clouds with scarlet crayon,
And makes the desert sand look like wheat flour:
Inhale the petrichor perfume of dawn.

Lightning flashes and thunder the antiphon,
Proclaiming sudden and short downpour;
Above the eastern mountains dark clouds spawn,

Flora and fauna revel in this phenomenon,
That frees them for a season from their languor;
Inhale the petrichor perfume of dawn.

The desire to hide indoors is gone,
The desert landscape we want to explore;
Above the eastern mountains dark clouds spawn,
Inhale the petrichor perfume of dawn.
