Breathe and Be

Here I sit
with a pen in my hand
Writing words from my soul
Wishing I was better than
The sum of my mistakes
My millionth fall from grace
Desperate to do better
Afraid of what could take place

And I know
There are people who get me
A God who forgives me
But I find it so hard not to hold on
to all that I’ve said and done wrong…

Hurtful words and raised fists in anger
Skipped opportunities fearful of danger
I’ve Glanced at horizons, too scared to reach
Beyond The partitions I won’t dare breach

I feel so alone sometimes
Hopeless in this mind of mine
shattered ambitions and passing dreams
Deep inside the caged bird sings…

Breathe , and be….
You’re not held captive
It’s you who holds the key
Creation, created
for far more than you see
right now

Internalized desperation
If you could let go of the frustrations
of the past, of the pain
of the fear, and everything
that binds you…

You can never undue what’s been done wrong
But you can be forgiven, and you can move on
It’s not your place to do all things
It’s not good when you’re suffering

And You set your own dreams on a shelf
To do unto others what you won’t for yourself
It’s not selfish to take care of your needs
To seek out some wants, to fulfill your dreams

So,
Breathe , and be….
You’re not held captive
It’s you who holds the key
Creation, created
for far more than you see
right now

You’re never alone
God and love go before you
You can’t go wrong
When your step into what’s for you

And even if the next journey
Leads to another stop or so
Bon voyage, keep learning
Oh the places you will go…
