Trophy Dream

Jumpy stretched himself as the rays of early morning sun kissed his cheeks. Rubbing his blurry sleep filled eyes he let out a loud yawn, which slowly became louder and louder until it turned into a loud scream. "What happened to my carrot trophy?".

" What in the heavens name is wrong with you ?" Jumpy's mother hopped into the room more annoyed than worried by the scream .

Jumpy hopped onto his hind legs and his fingers trembled as it pointed towards the empty wall opposite to his bed.
"My carrot trophy of last year, some one stole it." The tears welling in his eyes only confirmed the sadness and shock in his voice .

"Are you out of your mind ?" Jumpy's mom gentlty tapped his head, hoping it will bring him back to his senses.
"When did you even come close to winning the carrot trophy?" Her smile only making Jumpy wonder more what was wrong with her as she continued. " It's given to the fastest rabbit in town ,not the slowest."

"But mom,I...I beat Rumpy and won the trophy. The whole town was so happy."

Jumpy jumped out of his bed in excitement as he described his win against the fastest rabbit the town had, someone who had been unbeaten for 5 years now.

"And when did you achieve this wonderful feat my dear ?" Mother asked knowing fully well what his 2 year old child was going to reply.

"Yesterday night mom, don't you remember?"

Jumpys mother caressed his furry head and smiled " It was a dream my dear child." She paused as she saw the realization sink into him ,his excitement ebbing as he settled down again on his bed. " But don't stop dreaming, cause every dream can come true , if you work for it."

Jumpy smiled and closed his eyes again,hoping to win the trophy once more.
