Message in a Bottle

Sam Adams was walking on deserted Winter beach
Along the lonely Oregon coast.
He saw in the water a bottle with a message in it
Intrigued he pulled it out of the water, and opened the message.

The message was from a young man during the Vietnam war, to his girlfriend,
The message said “Don't worry I’ll be home soon, leaving just after New Years”,
But I am not sure if the mail will get to you” as they are watching me like a hawk.
He found out the 75 year old woman had never received the message.
