Garyn works on inventing a flight scroll. Short story for contest
“Get up Garyn!” Said Thorgan the barkeep kicking Garyn on his bottom.

Garyn groaned and turned over on his back. “What? Why?”

“You better get up and out of here before I thrash you for what you did to poor Lindsey last night.” Said Thorgan. “Poor girl trying escape you grabbing her. You are lucky the only thing you got was a thump with that skillet. Cost me my favorite skillet though, shame.”

Garyn felt his head finding a big hurting lump. “Ouch. My apologies to the lovely Lindsey.” He got up and bumped his head on the ceiling. “Ouch.” He had forgotten he was in a dwarfish pub.

He walked out Seeing a group of finely dressed dwarves led by Boldbeard the village Chief.

“Good morning Grabby.” Said Boldbeard and they all laughed.

Garyn huffed rolling his eyes.

“What’s this I hear you are trying to destroy my village Garyn?” Said Boldbeard.

Garyn furrowed his brows. “What did Arlent say about me this time?”

“He said you are making a flight scroll or some such and that this scroll is going to be the end of this town.” Said Boldbeard.

“Well, he’s wrong. I am making that scroll and it will be what makes this town rich and famous!” Garyn walked away hastily.

He reached his Craft Shop and shut the door behind him, “I don’t like it here.” Then he walked over to the furnace and saw that the coals were all the color of ash, meaning the scroll underneath them was ready. He cleared the ash with his fingers, revealing the words on the scroll underneath and immediately felt himself floating.

“Damn... I have ruined the town.”

From that day on, everything five hundred feet around his craft shop had lost the effect of gravity.
