His Life

Waking-up on a cold and icy, wet park bench.
This was not the way he had his life planned
But it is better than being in a trench.

He is now alone in this beautiful land.
Relying on other’s generosity
Silently praying for a helping hand.

His life now filled with animosity.
When a stranger stops and reaches out one day
Out of care and not just curiosity.

By understanding that he was not the prey.
He could talk about the cruelties of war
And the reasons he kept all people at bay.

With this, his life he could no longer restore.
He just wanted it all to be like before.
