Wanting something!
“You have to do something!” I mumbled underneath my breath.
I looked at it. It looked so tempting.
It just laid there, so willingly. What was I supposed to do, ignore my quench? I wanted it! Even though I knew the consequences would be destructive. It always was.
Oh well.
I reached for it but then hesitated. The last time this had happened I had gotten myself in a big mess. I had paid with bruising on my arm.
It’s her fault for leaving it so exposed! Do it!
It was true. I was starving and the leftover pizza was just out in the open. There wasn’t even a name on it. Even though I knew better. No one had gone grocery shopping. Technically it was everyone’s fault, other than my own. I reached for it.
Yes! It’s mine!
I heard my stomach cry with agreement. I popped it in the microwave and waited.
No one is going to know. You are good!
I looked around to ensure I was alone. Then the ding on the microwave alerted me. My leftover was ready!
It’s time to chow down!
The smell of the gooey cheese and pepperoni invaded my nostrils. My mouth watered with anticipation.
I took the first bite. I had died and gone to heaven! It was not too hot. Perfect for me to just chew and swallow! I saw the light at the end of the tunnel!
That is when I heard someone behind me. I knew it was over. I slowly turned and saw her.
“What is that?” She cried, eyes wide.
“Nothin’” I said in between the bites. There was no point in denying it.
“That is mine!” She screamed with anger!
It was time for me to run!
