Ah... Reunion... The one time of the year all of our high school classmates meet up to talk about the achievements we've accomplished in our lives. Every year, on the 21st of August, we get to open bottles of champagne and talk about what we used to do back in high school, our pranks, our behavior and finally our crushes and lovers. Has it really been that long since I last saw you? The way your hair was curled up at the end of your pony tail still brings me the way I felt when I first saw you. And now, here you are, looking just as beautiful as you were then. The same smile you wear, the same laugh you laugh, I still feel the same towards you when we were back in high school. "Hey" I called out to you, holding a glass of champagne towards you. Your smile still skips a beat in my heart. "Hey... How have you been?" "I'm good I guess... A lot of things to do in the company nowadays" I rubbed the back of my neck in embarrassment. "Things should be going great I believe... You're a hard worker" She shrugged. Right when I was going to ask if she was doing good, our song plays in the party. 'Your Song' by Elton John, the only song that's enough to make me cry. It was our song. Our first date. Our first prom dance. And our first argument. We played this song to bring back our good memories and now it was playing. Maybe it was fate. Or maybe it was finally my chance to get her back. "Shall we?" I asked with my left hand reached out and a little smile on my face, but on the inside I hoped she would say yes. "Sure" she said and smiled, God her smile. I would do anything to make her smile. We danced. We danced again, the same way we danced on our prom night. She looks so beautiful. Ethereal. "I'm sorry" I blurted out. "I know where I went wrong and I'm really sorry for what I put you through. I understand that you were not ready yet and I'm sorry for pressurizing you for marrying me" She looked surprised. Shocked even. The she smiled and said the words. "And I'm sorry for not realizing how much you mean to me till we separated. I need you in my life like you do me." As cue, I kneeled down pulling out the box dusting in my coat pocket for so long and asked "Will you marry me... for real this time?" She smiled again, like the angel she is "Yes" |
