Just Me and the Sea

The sun shines brightly on the dark moving water
It sparkles like dancing diamonds along the rippling surface
Cool damp sand is crushed under my feet as I walk
In awe I calmly approach the edge of the mighty sea

I breath deeply of the air so misty and fresh
The scent of the salty ocean is like a balm on my psyche
My eyes close and I listen to crying gulls on the wind
I feel one with the ebb and flow of crashing surf becoming foam

I stand there for an eternity until my soul is rejuvenated
Then I turn to the beach for treasures nestled among the seaweed
Sea glass, shells, and driftwood bits are soon lining my pockets
The ocean’s gifts I will enjoy with a smile in the days to come

I make my way through the dunes and tall sea grasses
With my precious trinkets secured there is a lightness in my step
As I head home I ponder the day I just spent in nature’s beauty
It’s an experience like nowhere else on earth, just me and the sea
