In the style of Dr Seuss. Wrote this for my pharmacology course at TRU. 2016. |
I shared this with some of my cool friends online at VSPN, especially the anesthesia nerds like Brenda Feller (best Dr Seuss quote ever in your signature, btw, do you still work in Florida?), Deanna (bad typists untie!), and Charlotte W ❤️🤗❤️🤗(xoxo) https://www.vin.com/Members/boards/DiscussionViewer.aspx?BoardId=5&FolderID=587&... Ketamine Will give you dreams Whether good or bad, Remains to be seen. A dissociative drug So the surgeon can tug And when they wake up They’ll be left to shrug Their muscles get stiff As they start to drift Attention is lazy, Memory gets hazy; Apneustic breathing! Increased heart beating! The blood pressure rises! Pupils increase their sizes! But, stay calm my friend And let’s play pretend Because they won’t remember What the surgeons dismember While the head may be bobbing And the tongue may be lolling See, your patient isn’t sobbing ‘Cause the CNS we are robbing For induction and anesthesia It causes retrograde amnesia NMDA antagonistic It even helps with analgesia But, don’t take it from me Inject it and see Or give it orally Good old Ketamine; Float like a butterfly Sting like a bee Increased salivation And sensory sensitivity So mix it with other things Even diazepam has wings My strange Ketamine... Oh the uses you bring For a great many things. |
