I found a magic wand that granted an extra day a week.
I found a wand that granted me
an extra day per week, you see.
I never thought I’d have the say
to stretch the week by one more day.

Extending time by waving wand—
at first I felt a little drawn
that I could alter time at will…
that thought gave me a sudden chill

which ran along the length of spine;
it was as if the cold of tine
had forked me in the thin of neck
affording me no warm respect.

What of this day then at my call?
Tis true I had the wherewithal
to turn the seven days to eight,
yet how could I so designate

this extra day that lengthened week?
It needed a name which we'd speak.
Not only that, but where it went
would be a calendar event.

With manic Monday up in arms,
fat Tuesday proffered sincere charms.
The hump of Wednesday made a case
as Thursday donned a gracious face.

Then Friday displayed gratitude
while Saturday was interlude.
As Sunday tried to recreate,
this extra day still had to wait

as all positioning fell flat;
these days excelled where they were at.
An extra day, though magic from,
turned out to be a stumblebum.
