At SubStation One, something is about to go down.
Red lights flashing. Sirens blaring. Shit was going down. Jake Davids was hastily sprinting down the long corridor of SubStation One. He emerged at the end of the corridor into a large control room, with large screens. Just like the kind you see in movies.
Jake approached a stocky gentleman wearing a black suit that looked slightly too small for him. “What’s the news from the president, sir?” He said.
“He authorised us to send in two fighter jets to take down the missiles.” The stocky gentleman, who was named General Carmichael, quickly replied.
“And?” Jake responded almost instantly.
“It was a miss.” The general replied. In a fit of rage, Jake through his clipboard to the ground.
“How long do we have until impact?” Jake demanded.
“Approximately one minute, sir.” The general responded. During all of this The general stayed almost motionless, with his hands behind his back.
“There must be something we can do.” Jake pleaded. The general just shook his head. Jake looked back at the screen as he saw the missiles slowly approaching them. Jake looked back towards the general. “Who made this mess?” He asked.
“I genuinely have no idea.” The general replied. Jake could see the countdown on the screen. Five. Four. Three. Jake closed his eyes. Two. One. The screen went blank. No explosion. Everything seemed fine. The screen then jumped back to life displaying a message. “April Fools. From The President.”
“Did you have something to do with this general?” Jake asked. The general just looked and nodded.
“You son of a bitch.” Jake said, laughing.
