Ken had the yen
to rhyme it now and then;
yet he was feeling spry—
he’d give free verse a try.
Ken would not balk
to rhyme around the clock;
but now the time was here
for free verse to appear.
This poet Ken took
his words by the shoulder,
he sat them down and
arranged them nice and neat.
Yet then as Ken grew
a wee bit older,
he knew his poetry
was incomplete.
No rhyme today,
for Ken it was okay,
for it to take a break
since free verse was awake.
No rhyme today,
free verse has come to play;
the style has aplomb
