“What is it?”

“I don’t know. It just appeared. It came out of nowhere. I was looking past their moon, and suddenly it was there.”

“It seems to be moving fast.”

“Yes and no. It keeps dropping down and then popping back up again. If you watch you’ll see. I thought it was disappearing behind clouds or something but then I had my eyes right on it when it made one of the drops. It’s so quick you almost can’t see it happen.”

“What should we do?”

“What can we do? It’s moving so fast it will be out of our area in minutes! We’ll just have to record it till it’s gone and then look into it. Maybe start others looking for something like this in other places? I’ve certainly never heard anything like this mentioned before.”

“Oh! It’s coming our way now! Maybe we’ll get a better image.”

“Look, it’s much longer than wide... it seems to have connected parts that move independently and rhythmically, with a large compartment of some kind on the end. It certainly is fast, but it travels quite erratically.”

“This is so exciting, we may be the first to ever see this on this planet!! We could get to name it if we are!”

“I suppose... I just hope it’s a good thing. It doesn’t seem to be doing any harm, but of course from here how could we tell? The earthlings don’t seem to even be noticing it though, let alone panicking. Maybe it happens all the time and we just never saw it. Maybe because it’s so fast?”

“Maybe... or maybe it only happens occasionally, like once a year or something. Be sure to get the date right. What’s the date on earth here now?”

“Just turned December twenty-fifth...”
