oh my African upbringing
where whips and strokes were our daily guide
respect of culture was next to divine
we were so embraced with this discipline
that life finds it hard to frustrate us
we could like adult think even at a tender age
all thanks to the beautiful mothers and fathers whip
days when whatever mother says father backs
days when we do not dictate for your parent
we often think this life style was deep wickedness
and am not denying the site of discipline that was way out of hand
it helps build the fear of even thinking of any rubbish thought
alas here are the days when whips are sweptback
you are grounded for 2 weeks is the trend our mothers employed
you can talk to your kids like adult they say
this are best way to raise a child this-days
with no questioning, young parent started embracing
the trend grew so fast even few adult parent threw away the whips
now children and teenagers are going gaga
suicide now becomes a teenage act
filthy dressing sweeps our street clean
off decency and modesty
freedom to decide ourselves
what to wear and how to act
floods the daily life of today's jet age
i humbly ask with sour heart
how as this helped our life now
strange happenings are becoming normal
today's society are seriously drowning into utter destruction
oh only if we will abolish our new trend of upbringing
and re embrace the old spear the rod and spoil the child.
