Daily Flash Fiction on 7/26 - Write a story that includes the line: “Who said that?” |
It’s 2:00 in the afternoon on Friday July 17, 2009. Something odd is going on. I figured I better write it down. I woke up this morning and this particular phrase kept running through my head . “Who said that?” It’s just a murmur in the back of my mind. Like the background sound in a restaurant, or a briefly over heard conversation from a few paces away. I didn’t pay it much attention at first. But it’s been getting louder. A lot louder. I’m sitting at my usual lunch table at lunch and I could have sworn some one was standing behind me “Who said that?” “Said what?” I said, turning to find an empty room. I quickly packed the remains of lunch and went back to my desk. “Who said that?” in the elevator. “Who said that?” as I sit at my desk. “Who said that?” as I open my laptop. Each click of a key seems to make it louder. It’s gotten so loud I can’t think, can barly typee this assss thee sound is soooooooooooooooooooo ----------------------------------------------------- It’s Thursday July 25, 2019. I found this word document on an old USB drive. I just wanted you to know that it doesn’t matter “Who said that?”. What matters is what they said. I have been at peace for a long time now. |
