Would you listen to my story?
If I Told You My Story

If I told you my story,
would you judge me and walk away?
Or would you stay and listen
as the tears and hurt pour from within?

If I told you my story,
would you criticize my every failure?
Or would you celebrate with me
while we look at all I’ve accomplished?

If I told you my story,
could you relate to the battles I face?
Or would you think of me as strange,
someone who should be avoided and left out?

If I told you my story,
would you see the love of Jesus?
Or would you say that I’ve sinned too much,
that even God couldn’t love me?

If I told you my story,
would the strength I have,
the fact that I always rise again,
point to the reckless love of God?

when I tell you my story,
know that I’m not ashamed
of the scars I bear –
they show the life that made me who I am.
