An ode to a festival of thoughts
Gardens [Eden, part I]

Somewhere east of Eden,
my heart beats in the west
Unbidden with no reason,
levied to a test

A test amidst a boutique,
a festival of sorts
Different stages, beats and cliques,
a pulsing ebb of thoughts

Thoughts pitched far too close to camp
… I'd hoped they had been lost
Sited where an X is stamped,
a garden marks the cost

A garden that should not have been,
… so planned, arranged alone
Bloomed into a thing unseen,
undreamt off, far from home

A garden blooming brightest green,
underneath the clouds
Rain that threatens summer's dreams,
silent 'neath the shrouds

A weekend left bereft a sun,
that's how impressions seem
when chances given, number one
… a second?.. can we dream?

With circumstances lost at sea,
and timing just so wrong
Still such thoughts, they swirl through me,
squatting far too long

Memories so glittersweet,
of things that might have been,
'midst transient decamping,
and sights that went unseen

Some sites aren't for sale though,
regardless of the need
Sometimes you have to fail, low,
to climb, to rise, succeed

Of mice and men, with plans best laid,
I'm thankful for them all
An Angel answers cries for aid,
she hears every call

Alas such lights can shine too bright,
their lure, stand too strong
Bright eyes facing, lit forthright,
can hold a gaze too long

Forcing you to look away,
avert the gaze elsewhere,
for fear you'd be lost, astray,
abandoned in a stare

A place where you would love to be,
confusion reigns in spells
With glamours spun for all to see,
and those, who see what dwells

Beyond the east of Eden,
as the winds whip from the west
Hindsight's where we cede them
… pitching in the present's best
