When the lights go out
And all is quiet
When the moon is high
And the stars are bright

They dance

When we are asleep
And all is still
When not a person moves
And crickets chirp

They dance

They fill the fields
And the meadows too
They cover the ponds
And the lakes all over

They dance

They twirl with glee
And leap with joy
They hold hands
And sing their songs

But soon as the sun rises
And sheds light on them
They vanish like melted snow
And become still and quiet

But when the lights go out
