This is a true story. Personal favourite of mine.
My Experiences With Sleeping Paralysis.
Ever since I was young, back when my mom would leave me sitted infront of the tv. Why you ask? That's because she was a single parent, dad presumably wasn't quite much in the picture and well, we were fine with that or atleast I was. So yes, ever since that time I used to have these dreams, where I'd be sleeping and all of a sudden as if instantly I'd open my eyes and guess what? I couldn't move a muscle and not just any muscle but every single muscle where breathing too was deemed impossible. It's as if something had held my soul in some other dimension and it was slowly watching life come out of my body since that's what it felt like. Why 'it' though? See I'm spiritual, in my world there's the mind, body and spirit so I basically use the Bible as my secret weapon. It answers most of my questions so yay I'm woke. If it isn't of God (light/good) then it is of the devi (dark/evil) it's actually that simple. I'll explain though why I ended up making the conclusion that this thing was evil making its master the devil ofcourse.
These dreams taunted me all through my primary and secondary level. In class, I'd take a nap during prep time. Then, as the teacher on duty would make rounds I would hear him talk in the next class where I'd try opening my eyes and wake up. See, it's quite simple, you're meant to open your eyes then you're done right? But not in this case, see I'd open my eyes yes, but as if being controled I couldn't move, I'd try getting out of that posture - where you rest your head on the locker- but there was literally nothing I could do, I just laid there helplessly. I had no control of my body, it's like someone/something had put me on pause.
Now, what really scared me the most, is that I had no control of my body, so let's assume the teacher was to find me and there I was trying my best to move a muscle and I simply couldn't, what would he end up doing? And whatever it is he would end up doing, was I going to wake up then? These were just but a few things I'd end up thinking. I simply had no clue what this was. And just in the nick of time I'd wake up, these experinces made me quit my normal naps it even rid me of my normal sleeps. Making insomnia part of my life because you simply wasn't sure if there was going to be a next time, because some nights I would try screaming or calling out anybody but I just couldn't do anything and this was no walk in the park. These were the type of things you were meant to watch in horror films.
It was not until recently, during my campus years, when I would constantly read the Bible, that something prompted me to go back to my roots. That was when I realised what I was up against. I was sleeping as usual and when I got the attack, this time I was staring at the sight of death itself and slowly my life was being sucked out. I knew it had to be it for it was darker than darkness itself, a figure resembling the grim reaper and you knew it had its 'eyes' pin-pointed on you because you could feel it. Was this the end? Then just as I was about to submit I heard a voice utter the name 'Jesus'. There and then I was able to wake up, breathing heavily as sweat dripped all over my body for the encounter was horrifying this wasn't a dream and the 'thing'? Well, it was gone but I was sure it had been there with me.
