his offbeat auteur spirit,
was it the accent?

He came so close once,
by birthing a boogeyman,
in nineteen-eighty.

A factory man,
working in the wilderness.
The last renegade.

Lone provocateur,
in a wicker cowboy hat,
now gone forever.

We scant fanatics,
miss his chaotic art and,
