Hole in My Chest

Walking alone
In the masses
I clutch at the hole in my chest
Trying to not let the bitter wind cool my very soul

I catch my sneers and scowls
before they get too far away
I want to hold them now,
and soothe them
I don't want to scare anyone away anymore

My hands let go of my chest
and I try to stand
the cold on my lonely soul

I look out,
and hope that no one notices
just how alone I am
