Outside the wind buoys up the drifting snow
in patterns that remind me of a dance.
The music of the zephyr begins low
as I observe this ongoing romance.
In harmony, each singular snowflake
moves to the melody that it has found
and wheels and spins and twirls without a break;
a promenade in white above the ground.
The symmetry and beauty quell the night.
I watch in silent awe, quite mesmerized.
I’m unaware of any but this sight;
a moment out of time, uniquely prized.
The music stops. The magic dissipates
‘til conjured up once more by playful fates.
