when did it ever become an insult?
woman

lady

whatever you'd like to call me i'm still the same person as before

yes, I did say person

because i am a woman

a lady

my legs can reach to the heavens and pull down an angels out of the skies

its feathers floating along my body and collecting in my lungs

so I can cough them out to show you what i'm made of

power

i'm made of power filled bones and knuckles strong enough to bruise cheeks

your cheeks

the cheeks you pull up to smirk at me once you tell me to smile

the cheeks you take for granted as you chew out insults

despite your rude words

i'm not anti-man

i'm a feminist because of people like you

people who tell unknown women on the streets to smile

who whistle because you think the clothing on her body was for people like you

in which you think it's a right to tear them off her body against her will

her lips are not yours to kiss

her body is not one to bruise

her hips are not one to clutch

her dress is not one to rip

the world doesn't deserve the people like you

i'm a feminist because of what you did to her

leaving a broken shell of a woman behind

her skirt is short because it's warm outside

not for you to stare down below

her bra is something to support her

not for you to unclip unwillingly

she's wearing those clothes not thinking of you

but thinking of herself

her body carries another life

not because she gave the man a choice

but because he took it

i'm a feminist because of what we can create

another life

another heart

another brain

a woman does not have to be with a man

she can be with whoever she pleases

the man is only a mere memory once soft cheeks meet soft fingers

no more calloused hands

or zero consent

she's everything you wanted

and unlike him she understands your struggles
