Short story that will be followed by others.
She slammed the door as she walked in and locked every lock. Breathing frantically she ran towards the bedroom and took out her suitcase and shaking she started to grab clothes out the drawer of the dresser and tossed them into her suitcase. She cried just thinking about what she will have to do, where she will have to go. How did this happen who was that man and why was he following her? Deidre had noticed a stranger at an event for her job and didn’t think anything of it until she had dinner at a restaurant and saw the stranger across the room. A bit startled she explained it away in her mind it’s just a coincidence. Then Deidre was at the grocery store checking out when she looked one aisle over and there he was! Her heart started pounding in her chest she did not want to leave with him around so she asked the cashier to hold her bags as she hid in the bathroom. After 15 mins of pacing she came out and looked around before heading home. Uneasy she starts to wonder does he want something? Is he going to kill me? Her mind racing as the uneasiness took over her body she almost forgot to stop at the light when Deirdre glanced to her side and there he was in the car next to her. Her heart sank as she thought what is happening? A honk from the car behind reminded her she was driving home as she gazed at the green light looking as the car beside her with a man that seems to be following her sped off. Now she knows she has to leave. She can’t stay. She doesn’t want to find out why this mystery man is following her. Deirdre had family in Rhode Island and knew she just needed to get away for awhile she could carry her laptop and work from anywhere. As she stood in line and boarded the plane a feeling of calmness started to come over her for the first time in a month. Deirdre called her mother to let her know she boarded the plane and what time she would arrive but not to let her mother know any of what has happened to her baby girl. Just to hear her mother’s voice made her feel a little peace. The stewardess gives her a smile as she walks down the aisle of the plane and Deirdre returned the smile. The stewardess passed when a male passenger turned around from 6 rows up and and Deirdre froze as her eyes met his. He nodded as to say yes I’m here too.
