-Dark Tree Shadowing- by Keaton Foster Beyond Walls Outside Home There Opposing Here Away Closer Farther Fearing Reality Searing Few If any Me None Not one Them Admitting Admissions Failings Such humans Out there Reality Squared Existing Outside All corners Laid bare Lives A creature Roaming A teacher Fighting Every war Killing Every foe Justifiable To him Murder Victim Or victimizer No time To spare Decisively Deciding Who is next I Am aware I Understand Clear Precise A dream Truth Reality Made bare Fair Least of all Close Him and I Creatures Abominable Aberrations Turned understatements Defining him Myself Becoming Evermore impossible Dark tree shadowing Standing Tall Crooked True Alone The day Empty The night Clear vision From my room I see it I know it Out there Colder still My protector His rejector Standing true Hiding What’s next Plain view He All beast Comes close Hearing Feeling really His claws Digging the wood His fangs Pulling the bark Ripping it Like flesh Crunching it up Gulping it down Sustenance At least for now All night long He goes at it Shredding Tearing Dark tree shadowing Waiting Wanting For me to rise up Escape Fleeing here For out there Facing Embracing Him as real As before He Wants a taste A devouring bite Another chunk Of my very soul Never Ever Will he Could he Stop When Day comes He hides away Back Behind these eyes Deeper still Into this mind But when the night Again, does arrive He will return Damaging me Even more Taking Removing What he can Not as he wishes There are others Plenty of victims Ones He has consumed All la carte It is I Who is his Most desired Gourmet dish Dark tree shadowing Protecting Me as is It won’t It can’t Stand forever It won’t It can’t Suffer always Sooner or later It will fall Each darker night He rips and tears At the foundation Of what between Him and I Has become As always was Imminent… Dark Tree Shadowing Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2008-2018 |
