An old aparment
Passing by our old apartment;
the apartment with the cats,
and the fat ladies,
and the lame kid.
We used to play roles back then──do you remember?
I would be the stranger and you...
you would be the lady looking for trouble.
And we used to light our candles,
and read the news.
But the news weren't so new and the candles never lit.
And the days went by,
and I forgot to wash the dishes,
and you forgot to water the plants.
And you stopped looking for trouble,
and I stopped being a stranger.
And our apartment stopped being our apartment,
with the cats, and the fat ladies,
and the lame kid.
