Perfume is an aromatic substance loved by many. Amongst all the perfumes, Musk is fascinating one. Musk is one of the most expensive perfumes in the world. Coming under the category of luxury item, it is being traded at a very high price. It has got a very sensuous smell and is highly regarded since the ancient times.

So, what's so intriguing fact about the Musk???

The charisma behind the Musk is the "Black Musk Deer". Musk Deer, also known as "Kasturi" is one the most startling creature of the Almighty.

The musk gland, situated in the navel area of the "Black Musk Deer" comprises of musk pods, through which Musk powder is obtained. This is used as a base in the manufacture of perfumes and medicines.

So this component (Musk Powder) turns out to be a wonderful scent.

Perfumes made out of Musk, are considered to be lavish. So, this eventually leads the Musk Deer being the cynosure of all the Shikaris.

Musk Deer has been the cynosure of the spineless hunters since the discovery of the aromatic scent. It is being traded in the world. It is one of the most lucrative animal products. Due to this massive demand of Musk, the Musk Deer is now categorized as an endangered species. Commercial demand of the Musk has resulted into massive decline in its population.

Musk Deer is a very shy creature, leads a solitary life. Sadly it has got a poor sense of smell. Another astonishing part of this tale (first being the aromatic scent) is that the Musk Deer is ignorant about the source of the magical scent.

The mystery about the source of the magical scent perplexes the deer. The restless soul wishes to know its origin but is unaware that its navel releases the aromatic scent. Hunt for the source of the scent makes him eager and leads him to go for an extensive search of it. This magical scent arouses great enthusiasm in him so it wanders here and there in pursuit of the Musk.

The burning fire of the desire within the ecstatic deer to discover the origin of the magical scent makes him lead a journey of inquisitiveness resulting in leaping in the entire jungle, falling from high hills and then losing its life. It is also during this time of the relentless hunt for the scent, makes it the victim of the attentive poachers out there in search of them. It falls prey to the poachers and gets captivated by them.

Restless soul loses its life by becoming a lucrative product for sale, for the hunters, for the business of fragrances. The deer paid a heavy price for displaying its emotion towards the magical scent. He loved the musk with all his heart and soul. Musk was always there in his mind; forever in its heart. It's never ending desire to discover it, fetched him death. By knowing about the deer's love for musk; I feel like quoting a saying "The sun loved the moon so much he died every night to let her breathe".

As the beautiful creature dies, humans are ready to enjoy the luxurious perfumes, made out of musk. Perfume lovers are willing to pay any huge price to purchase it.

What is this selfish world of humans, who is regardless, merciless towards somebody else's life? On one hand an animal is willing to sacrifice its life for sake of its love for musk, without caring about its life and on the other hand humans are trading the musk obtained through the deer, post killing it.

There is a huge difference between the animal and the human. Isn't it? For those who enjoy these perfumes, I wish to ask them "Is it really a sensuous smell or the smell of a lost one"?
