A quiet jog - too quiet! Flash fiction using "the strangent thing just happened
Alec walked through the door of his house after his early morning jog and as usual called out "I'm back, Hon!" Jeannie didn't answer, but he knew she was in the kitchen, so he continued. "You know, the strangest thing just happened. A few blocks from here, I got a little dizzy and everything got really quiet. And nobody seemed to be up yet."

He stepped into the kitchen but Jeannie wasn't there. For that matter, neither was Koko their chihuahua that by this time should be jumping all over him. Getting a little worried, Alec headed up to the bedroom thinking Jeannie had gone back to bed.

As he entered the bedroom, he called out, "Jeannie, Koko – anyone here?" Still no reply. That's odd, he thought, getting even more worried. A search of the entire house produced no sign of either of them. The car was still in the garage, so maybe Jeannie took Koko for a walk.

He picked up the phone to call, but it wasn't working. Going back outside, he walked five houses up one direction then the other calling as he went. He even knocked on Mrs. Anderson's door (she saw everything) but got no answer.

Now getting very close to panic, Alec ran back to his house and into the kitchen. It must be nearly an hour since he first got home but his watch didn't seem to be working either. Now in a full panic, Alec was about to bolt from the room when that dizzy feeling came over him again.

Suddenly, the room was full of sound including Koko's barking and Jeannie saying, "Oh, hi Alec. I didn't hear you come in. That was a pretty short run, today. Anything wrong?"

Should he tell her? No, better keep this to himself.
