Lessons for my kids as I get older

Birthdays come and go and usually I just celebrate . This birthday however, has me reflecting on life and lessons I have learned. Some lessons were easy, some I still feel the sting from them. I try to give some advice to my children, but like most kids they ignore it. So I thought if I wrote it down for them, it would be there in times they need mom . Times when I might not be here .

Lessons for life , for my three amazing kids. I love you to the moon and back.

1. Laugh more and worry less. Ask my kids what is the one thing they remember on our last Disney trip. It would be a simple answer. They remember their mom laughing so hard on the Dinosaur ride. Even my husband said he had never heard me laugh so much. So this upcoming year, I intend to laugh more and worry less. Things we worry about most are the ones we have no control over. But we spend sleepless nights over things , deadlines, money. There are things in this world you will have no control over no matter what you do.

2. Find something you love and do it. As you get older, you have to realize that finding something you love, being good at it will make it successful. Why spend your years working at a dead end job when you could be creating something amazing doing what you love.

3. Be humble, my house is not the grandest , but you know you are welcomed when you step into it. I have animals or rather furry and feather family members. They have their place here. Stay humble and never get conceited or above others. Show compassion for those that are not as well off as you. Be kind .

4. Find religion, Simple and straight forward. Find that something that helps you to understand the whole of it all. Put God in your marriage, how you raise your children and also in decision making. Make him the stone foundation of your life, the rest will fall in place.

5. Make that bucket list, No matter how silly or small it seems, make something that you can smile when you look back on your life. How dull this life would be if we just went thru the motions.
