Steel cage insulated with padded walls
patterned with endless videos of Maui waves;
committed to deadlines until
a line was drawn in the sand at water's edge
and it kept moving, disappearing,
oozing into oblivion.
Eschewed the fantasy
of having all the lines crossed. Can't dot
the 'i's - they never blink.
No one told me it was just a game.
