A poem I wrote while in love (I know, cheesy).
A long time ago
I found myself caught in a winter of grief.
I plowed my way through the snow,
And found myself a wonderful tree.
Amazingly, beyond my belief,
This tree was alive, for it was evergreen.

I was lost and the tree was alone,
Both of us caught in a winter of grief.
We were chilled to the bone
And our hearts were cold like never before seen,
But together we found relief
And I quickly came to care for this evergreen.

Days passed and soon came spring,
As we bid goodbye to the winter of grief.
I spent my time with this beautiful thing,
A tree I found when I was just sixteen.
I’m still amazed, beyond belief,
That I somehow found this evergreen.

Summer came and the nights grew long,
Long after the winter of grief.
My heart was growing, filled with song
From the sounds of happiness unforeseen.
I learned to appreciate every leaf
That found a home on this evergreen.

But after a while I began to fear
Another winter of grief.
The tree wiped away every tear
Using its leaves jade green.
I was amazed, beyond belief,
That I was comforted by this evergreen.

Time had passed and it was fall,
Not long before a winter of grief.
I was surrounded by beautiful trees but I stood tall,
For nothing temporary would come in-between
And play the part of the cruel, wicked thief
That separated me from my evergreen.

The world around us began to fuss,
As it was almost time for the winter of grief.
The snow fell slowly around us,
But we stood together, our smiles with sheen.
I knew then, beyond belief,
That nothing would ever come between me and my evergreen.

A long time ago
I found myself caught in a winter of grief.
I plowed my way through the snow,
And found myself a wonderful tree.
Amazingly, beyond all belief,
I came to love this evergreen.
