There once was a fairy who sang merrily in the garden. Meriflur was her name. The other fairies told
her “You may sing in the garden. You may sing down in the meadow, in the trees, or high in the sky,
but whatever you do, don't go near the pond.” Little Meriflur just kept on singing merrily as she flew
from flower to flower. Across the meadow and high in the trees her joyful song rang out. Soon her little
voice was heard near the shore of the pond. So caught up in the joy of her song was she that she failed
to notice what was lurking in the tall grasses. A hungry bullfrog! She flew a bit too near and that instant
felt something wet and sticky wrap around her leg. Her wings beat furiously, but there was no escape.
She was drawn into the bullfrog's cavernous mouth in the twinkling of an eye. It was wet and dark and
the last thing little Meriflur knew was she couldn't breathe as her tiny body was forced down into the
frog's stomach. So it came to pass that little Meriflur and her joyful song were no more.
