A line overheard in a checkout line leads to gruesome discovery.
"I haven't had so much fun since I watched the pigs eat my brother."

The young detective listened aghast as the teenager spoke the words. The detective, Henry Baines, was on his first solo case, and this case was a tragedy in the making.

“What kind of kid is this? And he was laughing about it? What the heck?” The thoughts rumbled through Baines’ brain like a freight train rumbling down the railroad tracks.

The kid added to his story, “I not only watched the pigs eat my brother, I pushed him while he was feeding them.” The kid smiled with innocence that belied his guilt.

Detective Baines ran through all the psychopathic diagnoses he could think of. Nothing seemed to fit a teenage kid with such brazen pathology and angst.

The teenager was sure that his kid brother received more attention from the parents and school teachers. His attitude was one of entitlement.
“I deserve everything my brother got, and more,” the kid shouted.

“Well, that’s exactly what you will get.” The detective thought as he led the teenager to the police cruiser.
“You are definitely gonna get it.”
