Sometimes you need to draw the line... |
It was a hot day. The streets were crowded with people hurrying to no place in particular, their faces added to the anonymous pile of the city. He did not mind them. "Wait!" He called after Stephanie that was quickly walking away from him, almost swallowed in the herd of people. "Stephanie wait, please!" She did not respond, nor has she slowed down her pace. Steve made haste, bumping and shoving people as he made his way closer. A few quick strides and he will catch up to her. He grabbed her hand. She turned. "Leave me alone Steve!" Stephanie said, irritated. "Please, just, give me a chance. I promise-" "There's nothing to talk about." People turned their faces to the spectacle. There was no rush. There was no place in particular they needed to go to. Steve looked at his girlfriend and sighed. She looked pissed, what could he say to console her? He chose his words very carefully: "Listen, Steph, we've just started dating. I can see why you're upset but it's no reason to throw everything altogether. We can still work this out, you know? Put our differences aside, like adults-" "Adults?!" She looked at him in disbelief. "Steve, I only asked you to buy me a fucking ice cream." Steven clenched his square jaw tightly. His eyes fixed, cold, distant. His voice was grave, and freckled with hostility. "That is not going to happen." Stephanie groaned and walked away. Steve watched her disappearing between the masses. He took out his wallet. "I knew you wouldn't betray me," it said. "Never." |
