Every July
I fill the suitcase with prayers for you
and catch the train
to your brown house
You hug me with silence
and kiss with a breath of moss
on the threshold
but you don't invite me in
no matter what
my wrinkles say
I age above your stone-roof,
begging sky
to let you come home with me
Outside,
your shadow plays
with other 6,938 ghosts,
telling me to pack my suitcase
and come back next year
