Poem for Writer's Cramp
None of What You Hear

Believe nothing you hear
And only one half that you see

If that's what you choose to do
You never will believe in me

You'll not believe the sky above
Unless there's only half a moon
You won't believe the songbird's call
When he chirps his happy tune

You'll trust the Mona Lisa's smile
The question is which half you'll see
Poetry you won't abide
When you hear it read you'll flee

Traffic lights won't be a mess
As long as you trust one in three
Stop signs, though, will cause alarm
Stop or go, which will it be

If your love says "Come to me"
Will you turn and walk away
When you hear that school's called off
Will you go in anyway

That advice may not be great
If you can't believe a thing
When you try to follow it
Your head will spin, your ears will ring

How then should we make our way
What's to be our guiding light
Put your faith in those who care
Now and then you may be right
