Written in a time of great depression in my life.
As I sit behind my mask

I watch the world pass by

My friends smile

My family laughs

The world turns as I watch

My mask is my identity

It is how others describe me

It is how the world sees me

But once the mask is removed

I feel like

My friends forget

My family stills

And the world stares

They stare at my true self

The part of me that was never known

The part that I hide

The part that takes over

Once my mask is removed

I feel alone

I feel scared

Like I dont belong

I know there are others like me

But I will never know them

Because their masks are all I see

I cant help but feel like

We are the only ones

Living our lives in truth

While the rest of the world lies

Those with masks see

We see that all their happiness

I what we wish we had

We see that all their desires

Are desires we have never known

While they sing, dance, live

We sit by, alone

Maybe the world does not lie to itself

Maybe it lies about us

Lies to keep us separate

To keep us hidden

Maybe thet is why we have these masks

So the world will accept us

So that we can know what they do

The world is our stage

And we.......

We are the ones with masks.
