In honor of the Police that Protect

The Men of Blue; Thank You

I see blue, deep and dark
Silver Metal, glistens in the night
Pointed prick of tin against my chest
Reminds me that I am carried,
I am safe, protected and shielded
Bullets, haunting and ghostly
Ring out loudly overhead
But I am sheltered this night
He has chosen to be my armor today
Protecting me from harm
I am safe, protected and shielded

Noise, painful and deafening surrounds
No faces familiar around
Lost, scared that I won't be found
Through sting of tears, I see the blue
Silver metal, glistens in the sun
His hand he offers, strong and warm
Safety, leading me home
To faces familiar, no longer alone
He has chosen to be my friend today
Protecting me from harm
I am safe, protected and shielded

Shrill and shrieking, brakes screeching
Shards of glass, twisted alloy bent and broken
Agony twinges, bloodied ache unspoken
Window framed first face I see
Cap of blue adorned, looking in at me
Silver Metal, flashes in the light
Tender comfort, preservation rendered
No longer alone in a sea of pain
Hovering haven, styled in blue
He has chosen to be my lifeline today
I am safe, protected and shielded

Defending line, parade of blue
Silver metal, gleaming shield
Guardian of grace, Dignity upheld
Comrades falling, Tears exploding
On bended knee, merit of honor
Uniformed Garrison, protects and serves
Watchful warrior, keeper of peace
Head bowed, silent in prayer
Vigilance maintained, honor respected
He has chosen to die for me today
I am safe, protected and shielded
