Being too excited about the holidays.

She hung the wreath but dropped the nail,
she strung the lights but knots prevailed.
At night she laid on down to rest
yet even dreams were full of stress

and so she tried to let things go
by dancing ‘neath a bright rainbow.
Yet complications soon arose
and she felt pain in arch and toes.

Her nervousness did not stay put;
she tried to dance while on one foot.
The holidays were jitterbug;
a cord was life and she was plug

into the socket of life’s wall.
She saw Noel and wanted all.
A waltz was better suited for,
yet tempo spiked—she wanted more

of everything in push and shove
(forgetting about peace and love),
but rather wrapping angst and pep
about the world in her two-step.

Her heart beat like a red alert;
she twisted quick in her green skirt.
Sometimes excessive thrill betrays;
She was WAY too excited about the holidays.
